Alfred Hufford married Martha Alice SOWARD on 23 October 1855, in Georgetown, Scott County, Kentucky. The family later moved to Platte County, Missouri, and appear in Platte's 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses. Alfred Hufford owned 96 acres in Township 52 North, Range 33 West, Section 8. 80 acres was located in the south half of the northeast quarter. The rest was in the southeastern portion of the northwest quarter of Section 8. This land was owned by his son, Alfred, in 1945.

Alfred and Martha Hufford had ten children: Mollie T., Laura Alice, Emma Lee, William Addison, Lizzie V., Luella B., Georgia Etta, Thomas Marion, Barney Willard, and Alfred Hufford.

Alfred was a son of Jacob H. HUFFORD (circa 1795-1825) and Mary LINK. Jacob was a son of Daniel HOFFART (1755-1817), who was a son of Christian HOFFART, who arrived at the Port of Philadelphia on 15 September 1729, when he was 13 years old, after crossing the Atlantic Ocean on the ship Allen with his parents, Hans Jorick HOFFART (b. 1674) and Anna Margaretha MOST (b. 1675).
