Cletis B. Mouser, 87, of Jackson passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009, at his home.
He was born Dec. 6, 1921, in Scopus, Mo., to Andrew Jackson and Susan Ida (Sawyer) Mouser.
He and Celeste "Tudy" Lincoln were married Nov. 9, 1946, in Jackson. She passed away Oct. 13, 2008.
Cletis was inducted into the U.S. Army on July 21, 1942, at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. He was a private, tech 5, truck driver with Battery A of the 360th Field Artillery Battalion.
He served in the battles and campaigns of Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe, and received ribbons for the American and European-African-Middle Eastern theaters. His decorations and citations include three Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and an Overseas Service Bar. He was honorably discharged Nov. 19, 1945, at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
Upon returning to Jackson, Cletis became employed at the former Lenco, where he worked 40 years until his retirement in 1992. During retirement he enjoyed repairing lawn mowers and swapping small engines and lawn equipment.
He attended CrossRoads Fellowship Church in Jackson.
Loving survivors include a son, Bradley (Miriam) Mouser of Gordonville; a daughter, Brenda (Glenn) Elfrink of Jackson; a sister, Odetta Seabaugh of Ooltewah, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Michael and Morene Mouser, Mark Elfrink and Tara (Scott) Fischer, all of Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Chase A. "Little Man" Fischer and Tyler James Fischer, all of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters, of which one is below:

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Verlee Eaker officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery with military honors provided by the Missouri Military Honors Team.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the church or charity of your choice.
