Mrs. Wilma Taft Giddens, 86, died Sunday (February 16, 2014) at the Baptist Village Retirement Communities following an extended illness. She had lived most of her life in Waycross and was employed with Ruben Brothers Footwear for many years. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and the Faithful Sunday School Class. Mrs. Giddens was a daughter to the late Johnnie Taft and Emma Douglas Taft. She was married to the late A.K. Giddens; and also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jim Blackburn, Sr.; and three brothers, Johnnie Taft, Jr., Jack Taft, and Carlton Taft. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Blackburn of Waycross; her son, Billy Giddens (wife Barbara) of Woodstock; five grandchildren, Billy A. Giddens (wife Lisa) of Woodstock, Milton Bradley Giddens (wife Nichole) of Texarkana, AR, Rebecca Erin Kerstetter (husband Adam) of Acworth, Jim Blackburn, Jr. (wife Beth) of Waycross, and Stacy Carson (husband Mark) of Brunswick; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie Parrish (husband Harold) of Sanford, FL and Ann Hughes (husband Dick) of Springfield, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (February 19, 2014) at Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
