Mrs. Florence Day Clokey, 73 years old, widow of the Rev. Dr. Joseph W. Clokey, widow known at New Albany died at her winter home at Spring Valley, San Diego, Cal., from a sudden attack of the heart, according to word received by her sister, Mrs. Edward Fawcett, Silver Hills. The communication states Mrs. Clokey had enjoyed good health up until she was stricken. She had walked across the hall to a neighbor when she was seized and within a few moments passed away. Mrs. Clokey and her son, Joseph Clokey, who resides at Oxford, O., were spending the winter months at Spring Valley, where he was writing operas. The Rev. Dr. Clokey was pastor of the First Presbyterian church here for twenty-five years, during which time he and Mrs. Clokey won many friends and the high esteem of the community generally. The family removed from this city to Troy, O., about twenty years ago and later went to Oxford. Besides her son and Mrs. Fawcett, Mrs. Clokey is survived by two other sisters, Mrs. Fannie N. Beach, of Dayton, O., and Miss Jennie Day of New York City. - New Albany Daily & Weekly Ledger 31 Dec 1924
