Lawrence Muse of Ripley, known as "Sailor," died in Memphis last Wednesday at the Methodist Hospital there. He had been in ill health for the past two years. Funeral services were held at the McBride Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday afternoon. February 9th at two o'clock with Brother James A. Allen, Minister of the Ripley Church of Christ officiating. Burial followed at the Ripley cemetery.
Mr. Muse who was 66 came to Ripley after World War l. He had been in the Navy during that time. Many people who live in Ripley associated him with the first moving pictures which were shown here. For many years he operated a picture making place and painted signs. He was married to the former Mary Etta Coston at Ripley whom he leave. He was a member of the Baptist church, and a native of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Besides his wife Mrs. Muse, he leaves a son, Thomas of Jefferson City, Mo. ; two daughters: Mrs. Etta Mae Stewart, Memphis and Mrs. Betty Ann Williams also of Memphis; and six grandchildren.
Pall bearers for the service include: Gordon Patrick, Bart Johnson, Vernon Kidd, James Kidd, J.W. Huddleston and Vance Huddleston.
