BURNS, SR., Floyd Thomas, age 77 of Maryville, died Wednesday, September 26, 2001, at his home. He was an active member of Logan's Chapel United Methodist Church,
where he held many church offices over 50 years of membership. He has given many hours of his time to care for the church and parsonage buildings. Mr. and Mrs. Burns were the first formal wedding to take place in the new Logan's Church building. He graduated from Townsend High School in the Class of 1942, was retired from the Aluminum Company of America Electrical Department where he was a trainer of electrical apprentices. Mr. Burns was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Service Club and was an avid gardener and sportsman with a special love for fishing.

He was the son of the late John S. and Bertha Burns of Townsend, TN.

He was the beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather to his survivors which include: his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Waters Burns; children, Jane and David Doan of Blountville, TN, John and Susan Burns of Townsend, TN, Becky and Paul DePrator of Strongsville, OH, Floyd Thomas, Jr. and Nancy Burns of Chattanooga, TN and
Robert Burns of Maryville, TN; grandchildren, Lori and Adam Hitch, Elizabeth Doan, Lucinda and Nathaniel Allin, Holly Burns, Alisa Doan, Deborah Doan, David Bruce Doan, III and Rebekah Megan Burns; step grandchildren, Jenise Greene, Doreen and Ed Zimmer, Kellie Dickson, Tiffany and Bill Bright and Derek DePrator; great grandchildren, Anthony and Addison Hitch, Destiny, Noah and Olivia Zimmer, Schuyler Dickson and Ryan Bright; sister, Edith Pierce of Townsend, TN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Grace Waters of Maryville, TN; sisters-in-law, Ruby Burns of Ventura, CA, Edith Burns of Townsend, TN and Mary Sue Thames of Maryville, TN; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Lynch and Dr. Charles Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Saturday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville, TN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Logan's Chapel United Methodist Church, 4626 Logans Loop Road, Maryville, TN 37804.
