Alma was a member of the River Heights Second Ward, where he served faithfully in many callings in the church. He was also involved in civic and community positions. He loved his garden and was famous for his large patch of corn. Many people enjoyed the special flavor of his fruits and vegetables that he grew with tender loving care. Weeds were seldom seen in his garden. In fact, the fruits of his labor were of high acclaim. Alma loved the outdoors; fishing and hunting were favorite past times in his younger years. He also loved all kinds of sports. He enjoyed his family very much and loved visits and letters from his three children, 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He emphasized the eternal nature of the family. He died the same day as his 31st great-grandchild was born.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Irvine and Carol Barfuss, North Ogden, Utah; Brent and Carol Lee Barfuss, North Logan, Utah; Ireta and Ken Jensen, Woods Cross, Utah. He was the last leaf on the family tree, with his parents and brothers and sisters all preceding him in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the River Heights Second Ward, 800 S. 600 East. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
