Mr. Vittica X. "Scooby" Adkins, 55, died Friday (June 19, 2009) at his residence following a sudden illness.
He was a native of Weatherford, TX but had lived in Ellabell, GA before moving to Waycross in 2001. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Victoria Adkins and his father, Lucis Hoyt Adkins.
He was a truck driver with Fulmer Truck Lines and most recently with Dixie Road Builders. Mr. Adkins was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his mother, Willie Inez Lee of Ellabell; a son, Alan Adkins of Plant City, FL; 4 sisters, Peggy Shuman (husband Audry) of Ellabell, Barbara Burgess of Ellabell, Lorreta Adkins of Atlanta and Verley Adkins of LA; 2 brothers, Jakie Lee ( wife Beverly) of Sylvania and Ricky Adkins of Pembroke; numerous nieces and nephews; fiancé, Debbie Anderson of Waycross; Ex wife, Torey Williams of Waycross; 3 step daughters, Tammy Vanderbloom (husband Donnie), Jessica Roberts and Brittany Teegardin all of Waycross; step son; Derrell Rountree of Savannah; and 8 step grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday (June 24, 2009) at Music Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday night from 6 until 8.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
