Carolyn R. "Ruth" Marmo, 79, of Newport, Wash., passed away in Spokane, Wash.,
following a short illness.

Ruth was born July 3, 1927 in Charleston, S.C.the daughter of Ernest and Lessie (Boyd)
Baughman. Ruth was a very active woman in her community. She was an active member of the
Newport Eagles, St. Catherine's Catholic Church, past member of St. Anthony's Catholic
Church in Newport, and a former counsel officer of St. Anthony's. Ruth also took great
pride in the fact that she was a Hospice volunteer. She enjoyed sewing, reading,
genealogy, and making clothes for her grandchildren. In her younger years she was a
cocktail waitress at the Marine Corp Recruit Depot Staff Club. In August of 1964 she
married Nick Marmo in Chula Vista, Calif. In 1976 they moved from California to Newport.

Survivors include her eight children Richard Lask, Douglas Lask, Robin Gaccetta, Vernon
Lask, Anthony Lask, Joanna McGovney, Leslie "Kelly" Rice, and Francis Marmo; 23
grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. Survivors also include her brother Asbury
Baughman and her sister Ann Baughman Patrick. Besides her parents Ruth was preceded in
death by her two sons Ronald Lask and Christopher Marmo- Lask.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Dec. 19 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in
Priest River, Idaho. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home and Crematory in Newport, Washington is
