Death Claims Robert Green This Morning
Robert Nelson Green, 82, of Williams Creek, died at 7 a.m. today in King's Daughters Hospital after an illness of six months.
Mr. Green was born Dec 7, 1882 in Elliott County, (note from Ann-where he was born had originally been part of Carter County at the time of his birth) a son of the late William and Sue White Green.
A resident of Boyd County, since 1913, he was a member of Poague Lodge 325, F & A.M. and a member of all York Rite Masonic Lodges. Having retired from Semet Solvay, where he had been employed for 37 years as oven foreman, approximately 12 years ago. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sarilda Shelton Green; three sons, William T. and John Green, both of Ashland, and Charles Walker Green of Fontana, Calif; four step-sons, Charles, Phil and A. H. Walker all of Ashland and J.C. Walker of Loraine, O; three daughters; Mrs. Della Sue Vanover of Summit, and Mrs. Grace Verna Walker and Mrs. Gertrude Horton, both of Ashland; two brothers; Winfield and Herald Green, both of Ashland; a half brother, Delano Green of Westwood; four sisters; Miss Minnie Sue Green, Mrs. Victoria Miller and Mrs. Nancy McMann, all of Ashland, and Mrs. Rosale Bottoms of California, three half-sisters: Mrs. Iva Preston of Ashland, Mrs. Marie Roberts of Westwood and Mrs. Beulah Williams of North Carolina; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Liberty Baptist Church by the Rev. Carroll Caudill and the Rev. Charles Lewis. Burial will be in Carter County Memorial Gardens.(note from Ann-the obituary may SAY Carter County Memorial Gardens but I've been to the Sparks Cemetery and SEEN the headstone)
The body is at the Lazear Funeral Home where friends may call after noon Wednesday. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The body will be removed to the home of a daughter, Mrs. Vanover, at 10 a.m. Thursday where friends will be received.
