He was born Sunday, June 26, 1931 at Dry Fork, WV, a son of the late Charles A. Ketterman and Annie O'Dell White Ketterman. On April 18, 1949 at Oakland, Md, he was married to the former Mary Anna Gilmore, who preceded him in death April 9, 2001.
Surviving are two sons, Charles A. "Butch" Ketterman, Jr. and wife Nancy of Hendricks, and Tracy John "TJ" Ketterman and wife Billie of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina; one sister Bernice G. Hymes of Parsons; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, W.P. "Buck" Ketterman: three sisters Mary Edith McCrum, Betty Jo Carr and Hallie L. Sturms.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1949. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a former employee of the West Virginia Dept. of Highways as a Highway Equipment Superintendent, retiring in 1987. He was a member of The Pythagoras Lodge #128 A.F. & A.M. of Parsons, WV. He was a member of the American Legion at Romney, WV, and the Veterans of Foreign War at Rowlesburg, WV.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 11 AM. Pastor Loren Metzner and Pastor Danny Linger will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, where the H.W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion and the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War will conduct full military rites. Special thanks go to the wonderful volunteers at the Hospice Care Corporation for their assistance during this difficult time and his longtime friend Danny Lipscomb for so many years.
