Edgar was the husband of Margaret Wells, the daughter of Thomas Wells and Phoebe Evans. They were married 14 Dec 1858 in Marion, West Virginia, and had the following children:

Margaret died in 1883 and Edgar married Alazan S Baker, the daughter of William B Baker and Ruth Dicken. They were married 21 Sept 1884 in Ritchie, WV.
According to a descendant, Edgar fought for the North during the Civil War and changed the name of Snider to Snyder to reflect his preference of "Yankee."
