Stella G. Mabe, 79, of Vancouver, WA, died peacefully in her sleep on Sun., June 14, 2009. She was born Stella Gay Baker on Aug. 21, 1929 to Joseph and Emma Baker in Henryetta, TX and lived in Wichita Falls, TX until she was 18 years old.
She moved to Klamath Falls, OR with her aunt Leona and uncle Aubrey. While in Klamath Falls, she met and married Chuck Goodwin. Together they had three sons and one daughter. After living in a few different towns in the Northwest, they moved to Vancouver, WA in 1968. After Chuck's death in 1984, she met and married Sterling Mabe.
Stella was very much a Christian and attended several churches in Vancouver. She was currently attending Rehobeth Jewish Messianic and New Hope Foursquare.
She was an avid gardener, with the whole back yard
being her garden and the front yard loaded with flowers.
Stella is survived by her three sons, Robert Goodwin, Larry Goodwin, and Garry Goodwin (Michelle Poppe), one daughter, Linda Haft; three sisters, Lois Burleson, Treva Albon, and Gloria Johnson; one brother, Roy Baker; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling Mabe; her parents, Joe and Emma Baker; brothers, Raymond Baker and Aubrey Baker; sisters, Vioala Bond, Frances Burleson, and Mary E. Baker; and grandchild, Emma Haft.
The family would like to give special thanks to Denise Colburn for her support, generosity, and unconditional love and the staff at Ray Hickey Hospice House.
There will be a memorial service for Stella on Thurs., June 25, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Foursquare, 1801 Daniels St., Vancouver, WA.
