As of Sept 3, 2018, research is in process to determine whether Thomas Thorp (1756-1849) #47669784 buried in Acton, MA is the same Thomas Thorp that Lucy married on Nov 29, 1827. Any information to confirm or identify the Thomas Thorp that married Lucy Tufts is appreciated.

Lucy's first husband, Stephen Tufts (1779-1826), is linked to all 11 children.

Lucy (Frost) Tufts married Thomas Thorp on Nov 29, 1827 in Charlestown, Suffolk County, MA, USA following the death of 1st husband Stephen Tufts (1779-1826): The marriage record is at:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q29G-6SC7
From the image, third marriage from top, Thomas was from Acton, MA and Lucy Tufts was from Charlestown, MA.

The above marriage record provides no deails on age, parents or middle initial. To date, author has only found one document that includes both Lucy and Thomas Thorp which is from the United States Revolutionary Was Pension Payment Ledgers (1818-1872):
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q24Q-P5BK

This record indicates that Lucy Thorp received the semiannual payments of $60 per half-year paid for Sergeant Thomas Thorp from Feb 3, 1853 to October 7, 1861, the date of Lucy (Frost) Tufts-Thorp's death. If you look at the original image, there is a handwritten note "Died 7, October 7, 1861".

About 4-5 other documents in this collection show that Sergeant Thomas Thorp received the pension starting in 1818. Each document represents several years and is continuous with Lucy's name only mentioned on the above.

The first document in the collection was for benefits paid in Maine. All subseuent documents were while in Massachusetts.

From the above one might speculate:
+ Thomas Thorp born in Maine?
+ Thomas Thorp died about 1853 when the pension went to Lucy as the widow.

From the USA 1850 Census in Malden, Middlesex, MA:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MD91-R8B

Lucy Thorpe . . . . Age 68
Eliza A B Tuft . . . . Age 33
Annie Simonds . . Age 12

From the USA 1860 Census in Malden, Middlesex, MA (Page 35 of 84, Dwelling 217, Family #289):
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MZHT-VD8

Lucy, Eliza and Annie are at the bottom of the image. Thorpe seems to agree with the image of her signature but Lucy is questionable as first name appears to start with S and have 5-6 letters?

If Thomas Thorp died in 1853, one would have to question why he wasn't included in the 1850 household.

Emily Whittle . . . . Age 40
Lucy Thorpe . . . . Age 78
Eliza A B Tuft . . . . Age 43
Olive A Kelly . . . . . Age 24
Chas Blanchard . . Age 26
Sarah Cook . . . . . . Age 19

Emily, Lucy, Eliza and the other 3 are near the center of the image. The transcription definitely agrees with Lucy Thorpe's signature on the image. Emily is listed first which indicates she is "Head of Household". Based on ages, one could speculate whether there is a relationship of the younger three to Eliza and/or Emily as Eliza is definitely Lucy's daughter.

Ages and location in both 1850 and 1860 agree with Lucy (Frost) Tufts-Thorp b1782 and dau Eliza A B Tuft b1817.

Lucy's probate of will has been located which was dated Oct 1, 1861, just a few days prior to her October 7, 1861 death, naming four of her five living children as heirs and Hannah's husband administrator. Two of the four heirs, Lucy (Tufts) Simonds (1806-1893) and Hannah (Tufts) White (1823-1888) were not previously included as children of Stephen and Lucy. A Feb 23, 1806 birth record for a "Male Tufts" was found but did not find a record of twins or or one for a twin which is possible because it is questionable whether a birth record would be created with the wrong gender.

Existing memorials were found for Lucy and her family and there is a request pending to link Lucy to her mother and father.

Lucy excluded daughter Sally (Tufts) Newhall (1823-1888) and made provisions for Eliza to be taken care of the rest of her life. Eliza was single and living with Lucy in the 1850 and 1860 census but married in 1865 at age 49.

No memorial could be found for Stephen (1819-1826) or Hannah so memorials were created in a virtual cemetery. Since a 1888 death record for Hannah was found in Holliston, MA, hopefully someone will locate the correct cemetery.

Which Thomas Thorp did Lucy marry in 1827?

Thomas Thorp (1756-1849) #47669784 was widowed in 1806 and buried in Acton, MA which is where Lucy's 2nd husband Thomas Thorp lived per the 1827 marriage record. Death in 1849 would explain Lucy being in the 1850 census without Thomas Thorp. Refer to memorial #47669784 for more information on Thomas THORP (1756-1849) and his son Thomas THORPE (1790-1868) #183279398. which clearly identifies the conflict between THORP and THORPE on the headstones of father and son.
