Marshall Warren Aheart, 78, of Palmyra, Virginia, departed this life on Monday, June 23, 2008, at his residence.

He was born on August 6, 1930, the son of the late Robert L. and Amy N. Aheart. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Aheart, Charlie Edward Aheart, and Samuel L. Aheart.

Marshall was a member of St. James Baptist Church; a graduate of S.C. Abrahams High School of Fluvanna in 1947; and a long time employee of the Blue Ridge Hospital of the University of Virginia. He was a United States Air Force Veteran who served from June 1951 until September 1953 and he fought in the Korean War. He was a talented vocalist and sung with the Gospel Future Four.

He is survived by one brother, Dr. Andrew N. Aheart of Charleston, West Virginia; two sisters, Mabel J. Washington and Mary A. Anderson, both of Palmyra, Virginia.; one devoted brother-in-law, Alphonzo Anderson of Palmyra, Virginia; two nephews, Alphonzo C. Anderson of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Lamont Aheart and his wife, Peggy, of Hartford, Connecticut; three nieces, Cynthia Troublefield and her husband, James, of Richmond, Virginia, Gail Aheart of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ella Mae Holland of Palmyra Virginia; two devoted cousins, Sinclair Payne of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Charlie Cavanaugh of Troy, Virginia, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008, at St. James Baptist Church with Reverend Bernard Wells officiating. Interment will follow at the Aheart family cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services.
