She was the widow of Harvey A. Russell, whom she married May 30, 1936, in Randolph and who died Sept. 28, 1977. A lifelong area resident, she was born Oct. 12, 1910, in New Albion, the daughter of William A. and Emma Frahm Van Rensselear. She was a 1929 graduate of Ellington High School and a 1932 graduate of Fredonia Normal School. Earlier, she had taught school for four years in Stockton, then was employed at the Cake Shop, Automatic Voting Machine and later for many years at the Jamestown Credit Bureau, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jamestown, where she had taught Sunday school, was a life member of the Fluvanna PTA, a member of AARP and had been den mother for the Pack 69 Boy Scouts in the Fluvanna area. She is survived by a son, Sherwood A. Russell of Kennedy, a daughter, Beverly Olszewski of Pendleton, N.Y.; eight grandchildren: Michael Russell of Lewiston, Patrick J. Russell of Falconer, David M. Russell of Glendale, Ariz., Steven Olszewski of Amherst, Daniel Olszewski of Diamondhead, Miss., Rebecca Sue Smith of Warrensburg, Mo., Kimberly Gibson of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Christopher Hermanson of Columbia, S.C.; and 14 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Doris M. Frazier in 1983.
