Final rites for Olen Lee Burner, 73, were conducted Sunday afternoon from a Philippi funeral home with interment following in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
The Rev. Lejune Lewis, pastor of the Philippi U.M. Church was in charge of the services.
The Philippi Rt. 1 resisdent died Thursday October 2, 1975 at 2 p.m. in Broaddus Hospital. He was born in Barbour County June 7, 1902, a son of the late Jefferson Davis and Estella Bennett Burner.
He was married on Nov. 24, 1926 to Mrs. Virginia May Bolyard, who survives.
Survivors are: four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Lorraine) Allison of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Kenneth (Loueda) Shockey of Philippi, Mrs. Gary (Karen) Coffman of Christiansburg, VA, and Mrs. Roger (Lora) Ervin of Philippi; two sons, Olen Junior Burner of Uniontown, Ohio and Adrian Burner of Akron, Ohio; three sisters, Beatrice Prichard of Denver, Colo., Naomi Faulkner of Delray Beach, FL, and Neva Miller of Akron, Ohio; two brothers, Harlen Burner of Parsons and Clyde Burner of Philippi; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two sister are deceased.
Mr. Burner was Methodist by faith and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, District 31, Local 1493.
