Hilda C. Felty Thursday, June 4, 2009 Hilda C. Adams Felty, 95 of Pine Grove, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009 in Waterbridge at Pine Grove. Born on February 22, 1914 in Outwood, Pine Grove Twp., she was the daughter of the late J. Harrison and Daisy M. Stager Adams. Hilda attended West Pine Grove Township Independent Schools and married Leroy G. Felty on March 5, 1932. She had been employed as a seamstress at the former Fox-Knapp garment factory in Pine Grove and later for the Smith & Bowman in Lebanon, prior to 1947 when she and Leroy opened L.G. & H. C. Felty Haberdashery of men's clothing, shoes, hunting and fishing equipment, on S. Tulpehocken Street in Pine Grove. They operated the store until they retired from the business in 1974, and then maintained an apartment building several doors away, where Hilda was well known for keeping clean sidewalks. A lifelong member of Suedberg Church of God, she served for nearly 30 years as president of the Ladies' Bible Class, responsible for conducting fundraisers benefiting many church outreach activities. For many years she served as a teacher of the pre-school class. She worked tirelessly to fund acquisition and improvements of the church fellowship hall, mainly by making sticky buns, along with her late sister-in-law, Betty Ann Adams, and doughnuts and organizing food concessions for parades and public sales in Pine Grove and the surrounding area. Hilda was a member of the former Mary E. Moore chapter 372 Order of the Eastern Star in Pine Grove. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband of 46 years, Leroy G. Felty, two sons, Edward Felty, who passed away in infancy, Bruce E. Felty and his wife Shawn, one sister, Harvena Ludwig and one brother, Alvin A. Adams. Surviving are her granddaughter, Bonnie L. Albright, her grandson, Bruce E. Felty and his wife Dawn, four great grandchildren, Meghan and Breeze Albright and Tyler and Alyssa Felty, one brother, Carl H. Adams all of Lebanon, cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Suedberg Church of God, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Terrence Jansma officiating. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, June 10, from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the Church. Interment will follow in the Church of God Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer, donations be given to the Suedberg Church of God Cemetery Association, c/o Debbie Felty, Treasurer, 70 N. Tulpehocken Street, Pine Grove, Pa. 17963, in her memory. The H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements. Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 6/7/2009
