Margaret Ann Amos Pickell, 73, of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 1, 2005, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and touched the lives of many who considered her a special friend. She was an active life-long member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, serving faithfully in many capacities through the years including mission trips around the world.
She was retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems, held district leadership positions in Toastmasters International, and was an active member of her community.

She was preceded in death by son, Randy Pickell; parents, Fred and Bessie (Whitaker) Amos; brother, Charles Amos; infant sister, Aldene Amos and nephew, Marvin Amos.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, James E. Pickell, Sr. of Lenoir City; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Vic Stacy of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, James E. Jr. and Lori Pickell of Louisville; grandchildren, Brandon Lanham of Minneapolis, Minn., Angela Lanham of Phoenix, Ariz., Jennifer Pickell-Webb and husband, Jason of Lenoir City, Candace Stacy of Tampa, Fla., Jill Thurman and husband, Andrew, of Atlanta, Ga., Tanner Lee of Louisville; great-grandchildren, Caelen Demaret of Phoenix, Ariz., Alyssa and Mason Webb of Lenoir City; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Arthur Hyde of Lenoir City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Ruth Amos of Adams, N.Y., Tom and Sue Amos of Chattanooga, Larry and Linda Amos of Gainesboro, Pat Amos of Maryville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances and Earl Brackett of Lenoir City; aunts, Nelle Wilkerson, Emma Lee Amos, Artie Amos, Sue Amos all of Lenoir City, and Faye Dyer of Dayton, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Valerie Hall, Malvin Amos, Marlene Filmer, Darlene Mundy, Karen Nicholson, Edward Amos, Keith Amos, Dawn Goutremout, Craig Amos, Steve Hyde, Melinda Duke, Beverly Miller, Lisa Crawford, Rusty Amos, Scot Amos and Tami Lehman; many great-nieces/nephews and cousins.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City. The body lay in state from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services followed at 2 p.m. The Rev. Glenn Gamble, the Rev. Brent Sims and the Rev. Bryant Bush officiated. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Nephews served as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pickell Memorial Mission Fund, in care of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 2144 Old Highway 95, Lenoir City, TN 37771. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City, is serving the family of Margaret Pickell.
