OBITUARY :
JOHN WALTER BARNES, 62, of Blue Ridge Summit, died Monday afternoon at his home. He was fatally stricken while working in his yard. He was born in Glen Furney, Pa., and was the son of the late Abraham and Minnie Maun Barnes.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Brown Buick Garage.

He attended the Church of the Brethren in Waynesboro. A member of American Legion Post No. 239, Cascade; Charles J. Gillam AmVets of Fairfield; Eagles Club, Inc., Waynesboro; Moose Lodge No. 227.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Marguerite Harbaugh Barnes; brother, Ralph I. Barnes, Waynesboro.

Funeral services will be on Thursday at 2 p.m. from Poe Funeral Home, Waynesboro. with the Rev. Lester Misner officiating. Burial will be in Harbaugh Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
