Oak Hill - James P. [eter] Hamilton, 96, died Nov. 6, 1973, at a nursing home in Ames. Services were at the Oak Hill Church November 9 with The Rev. Paul R. Lindholm of Ames officiating. Recorded music of his favorite hymns by Mrs. Charles Fullhart at the organ. Interment was at the Washington Cemetery at Gravity. Jim, as he was known by his friends, farmed many years in the Oak Hill area. Jim and Mrs. (Kay) [Calista] Hamilton were among the organizers to help build the Oak Hill Church. They seldom missed attending and helped with the activities holding many offices. After they were unable to farm they moved to Garner to be closer to their son and family, Dr. Cecil Hamilton, where they resided at Concord Manor. Mrs. Hamilton died in 1966. Recently he moved to a nursing home in Ames. Although they moved away many years ago they left their church membership at Oak Hill, charter members and still felt it was home.
He is survived by their son, Dr. Cecil, and wife, Rita, at Ames; grandson, Clark and wife of Florida; granddaughter, Ruth Kay, and husband of Des Moines; and seven great grandchildren.
About 30 friends and relatives returned to the church after the cemetery services for a potluck dinner and visit.
