Abby Kenneth Tarpley, 81, of Brecksville, formerly of Wooster, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Wade Park Veterans Administration Hospital in Cleveland.

Memorial services will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, Wooster, with the Revs. Arthur Ruffin, Jerrold Gilyard and Ronnie Turner officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, at a later date.

There will be no calling hours. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster is handling arrangements.

He was born March 17, 1921, in Wooster to George and Lonnie (Reynolds) Tarpley and married Ethel Oaks. She died March 18, 1996.

Surviving are children, Elizabeth Tarpley of Akron, Mary E. Holt of Canton, Carmita Chandler of Virginia, and Lamont Tarpley of Oakland, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Williams of Akron.
