Norma "Jean" Pitney, 85, Taylorsville

Norma "Jean" Pitney, 85, of Taylorsville, died at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mrs. Pitney was a homemaker and a member of Taylorsville Baptist Church and Johnson County R.E.A.C.T. She loved her family and enjoyed quilting and spending time with her animals.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Revs. Tom Collett and Smiley Bennett officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or Aging and Community Services.

Born in Taylorsville, Dec. 19, 1923, Mrs. Pitney was the daughter of Hobart T. and Blanche Jolley Chandler. She married Kinley "Tom" Lee in 1943, he preceded her in death in 1982. She later married Albert F. Pitney in April 1991.

Survivors include her husband, Albert; a sister, JoAnn Kirts of Columbus; a nephew, Tim (Brigid) Jarnagin of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Roy) Farr of Edinburgh; stepchildren, Chester (Sheila) Pitney and Barbara (Leroy) Childers, both of Columbus, Janice (Nick) Giles of Edinburgh, Wayne (Karen) Pitney of Wisconsin and Martha (Greg) Kohr of Kentucky, several step grandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pitney was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; brothers, Charles, Billy and Jerry Chandler and a stepdaughter, Kathrine Rooks.
