Erwin Clarence Nelson AKA Irving Clarence Nilson was born May 24, 1898, the son of Charles Gustaf Nelson (AKA Carl Gustave Nilson) and Selma Charlotta Svensdotter (Svensson-Swanson).

He married Madge Helen Adams, daughter of Arthur Scott Adams and Rose Stark.

Erwin and Madge had one son, Erwin Kenneth Nelson.
