Mrs. Harry Dawes
Mathews - Mrs. Dorothy Forrest Dawes, 46, died Thursday in a Newport News hospital following a long illness.
She had served as clerk and secretary of the Mathews County School Board for the past 17 years and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Mathews County Woman's Club.
She is survived by her husband, Harry F. Dawes of Diggs; a son, Richard Forrest Dawes of Mathews; her mother, Mrs. Mae Haywood Forrest Dawes of Diggs and three grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, conducted by the Rev. Edward Pruitt of Salem United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery, Susan.
