Obituary: Sherman M. Ashmore, 78, a lifelong resident of Austin died Friday, December 2, 1994. He was a member of Hyde Park Christian Church, and an Army veteran of World War II. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 5, 1994, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, with Dr. Edward Snyder of Hyde Park Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Cook-Walden Memorial Hill, with military honors. Pallbearers will be T. O. Powell, Maurice Walden, Woods Guinn, Gordon Belcher, Leland Stevenson and Yett Hibler. Survivors include his wife, Helen Ashmore of Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Marianne and Oron Schmidt of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, David and Peggy J. Ashmore of Austin; son and daughter-in-law, Laurence and Jennie L. Ashmore of Corpus Christi; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
