Third born of five children, his sisters were Dolores Pool de Aldrete and Consuelo Pool, brothers Charles Pool and William Pool. He had one daughter with Zapopa Herrera Villarreal. He then married Maria Luisa Armendariz on September 17, 1946, t St. Mary's Catholic Church, Los Angeles, California. He died on July 10, 1979, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 79, and was buried in Riverside, California.
