LAKE BENTON - Funeral services for Delores Lund, 73, of Lake Benton were Tuesday, May 19 at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. Burial was in Diamond Lake Cemetery, rural Lake Benton.

Delores Ann Lund was born to Andrew and Mattie (Johnsen) Draper on October 14, 1935 in Tyler, Minnesota. She grew up in Marshfield Township on the farm. She was baptized at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. She attended country school District 49 through the fifth grade and graduated from Tyler High School in 1953. Following her education she was employed at Brentwood Egg Plant. She was united in marriage to Knute Lund on August 28, 1955 at Danebod Lutheran Church. Their union was blessed with two children and 53 years of marriage together. The couple lived on a farm north of Lake Benton for two years, then moved to Arco for one year and then purchased a farm south of Lake Benton in Lake Benton Township where they established their home and raised their family. Delores was a volunteer driver for Lincoln County and a driver for special needs children for many years.

In November of 2002, Delores was diagnosed with melanoma cancer. The cancer was treated and went into remission. In 2009, the cancer returned and had spread throughout her body and she was admitted to the Tyler Healthcare Center to receive hospice care. She then moved to Pipestone County Hospice House where she died on May 14, 2009 at the age of 73 years and 7 months.

Delores was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. She served as Lake Benton Township treasurer for six years, and belonged to an extension club. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, crochet, embroidery, and spending time with her family and friends.

Delores is lovingly remembered by her husband Knute, her daughter, Linda (Jim) Berkenpas of Verdi; son, Jeffrey K. Lund of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two grandsons, Barry (Tonya) Berkenpas of Verdi and Brandon (Nellie) Berkenpas of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three great grandchildren, Becca, Breelee and Barrett Berkenpas; nephews and nieces, Don Williams of Amarillo, Texas, Eddie "Porky" (Sandy) Williams, of Stratford, Texas, George "Pete" Williams of Corpus Christi, Texas, Judy Henderson of Fcerritos, California, Ron, Monte, Todd, Tom Draper, and many other cousins and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Edwin Draper, sister, Angeline Williams. Blessed be her memory.
