She was 91 years "young" and lived a life full of love and family. Mrs. Crawford was a lifelong member of the Falling Water Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. S. Fred Clarke and Mrs. Anna Pitts Clarke; her husband, Lt. Col. Luther S. Crawford; her daughter, Mrs. Linda Melvin; and her brother, Samuel Fred Clarke Jr.
She is survived by her son, Robert L. Crawford, of Hixson; daughters, Betty Crawford, of Hixson, and Ann Edmonds, of Atlanta; son-in-law, Ron Melvin, and his wife, Pat, of N.C., several nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Ben Edmonds, of Chicago, Annah Edmonds, of Seattle, Kalia Edmonds, of Atlanta, and James Melvin, of Washington D.C.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jim Barry and the Rev. Everett Gossett officiating. Interment will follow the service at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Community Kitchen or Amedisys Hospice.
