Death Of A Good Mother - In the noontide came life's eclipse, when a widow, leaving seven children, was called from this earth to dwell in the Heavenly Land. On December 12th the angel chariot swung low to carry the spirit of this beloved mother Home. Sarah A. Adkins was born February 1st, 1849, in Warren county, Mo. She moved to this county with her parents when eight years old. At the age of 22, she was married to John J. Abney, on December 22, 1871, and to them were born six children - Allan Lee, of South Greenfield, Mo.; Mrs. Rhoda Dukes, of Deepwater; Wm. N., near Clinton; Pearl, of Lamar, Colorado; Frank W. of Alva, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Stella E. Pogue, of Deepwater. Mr. Abney preceded her in death October 14th, 1886. In 1889 she was married to Dee White, and one son, Claud H. White, of Deepwater, was born of this marriage. There are also 12 grandchildren. Deceased's home was in Deepwater, and she had been in failing health for about three years. She was a good Christian woman, having joined the Christian church at the age of 19 years. She was loved by a wide circle of friends, who sadly miss her and deeply sympathize with the children in this time of deep sorrow. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church in Deepwater, December 14th, and the remains were laid to rest in Englewood cemetery.
