William Dobbins (38375044)
One of the older citizens of Stamford, aged 78, died at his home on South Anson street Friday and the funeral occurred at the First Baptist Church, this city, last Sunday at 3 p.m., with Dick O’Brien, pastor, in charge of the services, and he was assisted by Rev. B.N. Sheperd of Abilene. Mr. Dobbins had been in ill health for some time. Burial was in Highland cemetery.
Deceased was born in Milam County, Texas, Jan. 31, 1861. His wife was Miss Margaret Elliott Williams, whom he married Dec. 23, 1885.
The couple moved to West Texas in 1900 living for a number of years in Sagerton, northwest of Stamford 14 miles, in Haskell county. He was a farmer and retired from that vocation about 20 years ago. He had been living in Stamford 11 years. He was a member of the Baptist church, being an active deacon for 20 years. His wife survives him and the following sons, daughters and relatives.
Two daughters: Mrs. G.E. Aycock of Aspermont; Mrs. Morris Hicks of Stamford; Five sons: J.H. of Spur; S.T. of Sagerton; W.E. of Dumont; W.B of Moscow, AR; R.W. of Anson; Sister: Mrs. Mollie Hickman of Cameron; Half-sisters: Mrs. Lula Chamberlain and Mrs. Clarisie Collier of Cameron.
