Matilda was the daughter of Robert Bickett and Eliza Clark. She married John Onstott on 27 February 1873 in Lisbon, Linn, Iowa. They were the parents of Charles and Ira.

JEFFERSON BEE - Wednesday, October 18th, 1916 - It is with deep sorrow friends hear of the death of Mrs John Onstott of the Park neighborhood, who passed to her long home on Monday after an illness of some time due to advancing age.

Mr and Mrs Onstott had several children in their early wedded life, all of whom have preceded the mother to the great beyond. The bereft husband suffering from growing infirmities of age is left all alone, a condition which calls forth heartfelt sympathy from his many old neighbors and friends.

The funeral will be held at the Jefferson Presbyterian church this afternoon at 2.

JEFFERSON BEE - Wednesday, Nov 9th, 1916 - Mr. John H. Onstott left yesterday for Bronson, Iowa, where he will make his home for the coming winter at least with nephews and nieces. After a residence here of forty-five years it is quite a wrench for Mr. Onstott to live elsewhere, but the arrangement seems to be the best for him at this time. His farm sale of last week was an especially good one, and he is followed to the new home in Woodbury county by the best wishes of many lifelong friends. He tells us he expects to revisit the old home once in a while.
