Mr. Charles "Doc" Spivey, 86, died Saturday night (February 12, 2011) at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick after a brief illness.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. He retired from CSX Railroad as a clerk in the transportation department. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of Second Baptist Church.

Mr. Spivey is the son of the late Orb Spivey and Leona Chaplin Carter. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Millie Henderson Spivey; and one son, Daniel Martin "Danny" Spivey.

Survivors include one son, Charles David Spivey (wife Bobbie) of White Oak; two grandchildren, Jada McDevitt (husband Andy) of Dallas, and Paul Spivey of White Oak; two great grandchildren, Clay and Cait McDevitt of Dallas; one sister, Jewell Spivey Smith of Live Oak, FL; one brother-in-law, Robert Paul Henderson of Florence, SC; one uncle, Johnnie Chaplin of Fernandina Beach, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday (February 15, 2011) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
