John F. Leighton, barber and watch repairer, who has lived in Colville for a number of years, died at his home on South Main street June 12, after an illness of more than a year. he was born in New Brunswick in 1854. His wife Mrs. Elizabeth Leighton survives, also a son Sergeant Arthur G. Leighton, who is wit the Canadian army in France. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Fr. E. Boll, S.J. Pallbearers were J.P. Curry, F.B. Goetter, Paul LaPlant, J.H. Carlin, P.H. Graham, D.J. Burk. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery. Mr. Leighton's familiar presence on the business streets will be missed. He was always kindly solicitous of the welfare of his neighbors and friends, always glad to stop and speak to the boys and girls, and was open hearted in spirit, and generous to the faults of others.
