Anna Barbara Bueche Obituary

Mrs. Anna Barbara Bueche, wife of Mr. A.L. Bueche passed away 14 January at 7 A.M. She was born 23 August 1825 in Milche, Switzerland, where she married on 27 February 1849. In 1853 she and her husband and their children left the homeland and came to New Braunfels on 12 March 1854.

Three sons, Gustav, Eduard and Otto preceded her in death. Surviving are 7 children (5 daughters and 2 sons), 53 grandchildren (30 boys and 23 girls) and fourteen great grandchildren. The surviving sons and daughters are Mr. Fritz Bueche of Anhalt, Mr. Louis Bueche of Karnes City, Mrs. William Trout and Mrs. John Mueller of San Antonio, Mrs. E. Beck and Mrs. Gus Rippstein of Fratt, and Mrs. C.W. Ackermann of Wetmore.

The deceased resided for 24 years in Lookout and reached the age of 79 years, 4 months and 24 days.

The funeral procession was one of the largest we have had in this region; then the deceased was far and wide in this entire vicinity well liked and highly esteemed. In spite of her advanced age, she was mentally strong and vigorous, and regularly attended with her husband, the Maifest and Harvestfest in Anhalt.

The old pioneers will all now soon be covered by green grass. The modern youth can have no idea or easily believe what the first settlers here went through. The deceased also suffered her share. May she now rest in peace.
