Mt. Airy Soldier is Declared Dead, Mount Airy--- Technical Sergeant William S. Cassell, assistant radio operator aboard a Flying Fortress which disappeared on a flight from Naples to London on November 1, has been declared officially dead, along with seven other crew members, according to an Associated Press dispatch from Frankfurt, Germany. Cassell, son of Mr. and Mrs. P.R. Cassell, who live about two miles east of here, had been in service for three years. Twenty-one years of age at the time of the plane flight, Cassell attended Mount Airy High School and graduated in 1942. He served overseas almost two years and was entitled one battle star. He was born in Kokomo, Ind., and came with his parents to live near here when he was two. He is survived by one brother, Franklin, 14; two sisters, Marilee, 16 and Hannah, three; and his parents.
William was buried in Arlington National Cemetery in 1947 in Section 15 Site 1
