Helen "Doris" Vest, 99, of Decatur, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Friday, March 06, 2009 in Imboden Creek Living Center.
Graveside services to celebrate Doris' life will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009 at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Baptist Church. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements.
Doris was born December 10, 1909 in Blue Mound the daughter of Oran and Grace (Harding) Carmony. She was a graduate of Blue Mound High School and Decatur Macon County School of Nursing. She was the head nurse at the Macon County Tuberculosis Sanitarium, retiring after forty-four years of service. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She married Oliver E. Vest on September 25, 1942 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1968,
She leaves behind her son Richard "Rick" Vest and wife Judith of Apollo Beach, Florida, grandchildren Charity Richardson and husband Joshua of Chicago and Sara Jessee and husband John of Louisville, Kentucky, and great-grandchildren Alex Richardson and Eli and Noah Jessee.
She was greeted in heaven by her parents Ora & Grace Carmony, husband; Oliver E. Vest, and sisters; Muriel Buzan and Lois Ackerman.
