Joseph Z. Clouthier, 91, formerly of 1018 Ford St., died Sunday afternoon at United Helpers Nursing Home, where he had been a resident since Sept. 12, 1996.

Mr. Clouthier was a cook at the former St. Joseph's Orphanage. For nine years, he cooked on various ships on the Great Lakes and at hotels in Florida in the winters. He was a custodian at the Remington Art Museum for 24 years, retiring in 1986.

Born Dec. 30, 1906, in Ogdensburg, son of Napoleon and Anna Rubideau Clouthier, he attended St. Peter's School and graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and Ogdensburg Business School.

Mr. Clouthier was a member of the Franco-American Club and St. Mary's Cathedral parish. He enjoyed reading, cooking and walking and was an avid sports fan.

Surviving are a sister, Lillian Sargent, Ogdensburg, and a niece.

A sister, Nola Perry, and four brothers, Charles, Lawrence "Pete," Edward and Herbert, died before him.

A prayer service will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Joseph Wheelock officiating. Burial will follow in Foxwood Memorial Park.
