Virginia Laura Holt, 82, of Lebanon, died May 16, 2009, at her home.

At her request, no services will be held. Private burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

Seh was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Edward and Bertha (Smith) Bowen.

She lived on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, as a child and moved to Lebanon in the late 1930s.

She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1944. She attended the University of Oregon, where she received nursing certification. She went on to the Oregon Health Sciences University to earn registered nurse cerification. Later, she attended Linfield College and received a bachelor's degree in nursing.

She worked as the evening supervising nurse at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital and Albany General Hospital emergency rooms for 25 years.

She was a member of the Lebanon Book Club, American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliary and Lebanon High School Alumni and participated in American Red Cross Blood drives for many years.

She is suvived by sons Charles E. Holt of Acworth, Ga., and James W. Holt of Lebanon; sister Lydia Fouts of Belfair, Wash.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Her husband Arthur "Troy" Holt, daughter Nancy E. Thurau and grandsons Matthew Trevor Thurau and Devin Andrew Holt died before she did.

Huston-Jost Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
