Note: There have been discrepancies about this grave being that of the Confederate soldier,Colonel James C.Malone Jr. This is not the grave of the Colonel.It is the grave of our James C.Malone as bio-graphed above. He and his family were in the census of 1860 in Limestone county Alabama He was listed as a machinist.After the war between the states he is listed in the special 1866 Alabama census living in the same area near Athens .He could not be found again until the 1880 federal census.He was listed then as a wheelwright,here in Lincoln county.He was on the voters list in Lincoln county in 1891.

The Confederate Col. James Chappell Malone Jr.was born May 21,1837 in the Athens Alabama area to James Chappell Malone and Elizabeth E.H.Binford He attended UVA and Cumberland University of Law. Was a lawyer in Nashville Tennessee prior to the war between the states. He was 2nd Lt. Co A 1st Tennessee,discharged Aug 1,1861 then Major 14th Al. Cav.1862, Col 9th Al. cav Sept 5,1864 wounded three times,paroled July 1865.Married Eva Williams Oct.12, 1881.Post war lawyer in Nashville Tennessee.Died Sept.11,1908.Buried in the
Mt.Olivet Cemetery,Nashville,Davidson county Tennessee.
