M. R. Kimsey, in Franklin Press: "I have just returned from Andrews, where I had been at the bedside of my mother-in-law, who fell asleep the 20th ult. Mrs. Nancy Whitaker died in her 86th year, having lived with her husband more than sixty-eight years. Mrs. Whitaker was the mother of sixteen children, who all lived to be men and women. Ten of them witnessed the death of their mother. There were children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren standing around her dying couch."
