She was born on June 8th 1907, named Gladys Thelma Caver and grew up in Booneville Mississippi with her younger brother William Jr. She would however use the name Thelma most of her life.
On October 19th 1929 at the age of 22 she married Benjamin Yaeger, a dairy farmer, Officiating was Rev. James W. Sells and the marriage took place in Pascagoula Mississippi. At the time of her marriage, she was a faculty member of the North Biloxi school system.
Together they welcomed three daughters.
Gladys was an elementary teacher and later in her career, she teached math in junior high schools in Biloxi. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
She died at Booneville Baptist Memorial Hospital on November 27th 1958 and was interred in Booneville cemetery November 30th, at the age of 51.
Left to mourn her were her husband Benny, their three daughters, her father and brother and several grandchildren.
