James R. Kidd migrated in 1830, with his folks from near Brattonville/McConnells (Turkey Creek,),York Co., SC where his Grandfather SGT. QM-Revolutionary Soldier, John Kidd had a Plantation home. He bought a parcel, for John L. And Sally Kidd on Turkey Creek where subject was born. John and Sally had migrated to Livingston County, KY. Had started over there when the New Madrid quake destroyed their place. Trees fell like toothpicks, land shifting, river running backwards, they went back to S.C.
in 1831, Migrating, to what was then Campbell County, now Fulton Co. GA., His Father, John L. Kidd and others started Antioch Community.
Here James R. Kidd met and married in 1849, Campbell Co. to Malinda Bailey, oldest daughter of Elijah Josephus and Lundy Townda (Steed) Bailey.
Elijah Bailey brought James and Malinda to Camp County. See Texas State History-
Reeves Chapel, Texas.
Mentioned also in the book, "Texans In Gray"
They migrated in 1857 to Pittsburg, Upshur/Camp Co. in East Texas and here James joined 18th Texas Inf. in 1861 and fought for what he believed.
Went home in Texas after the war and settled down to family life.
He later migrated in 1900, to Oklahoma and lived with the NABORS family at Meridian, in Roger Mills Co. OK with daughter-Mary Frances Kidd Nabors, after 1910, he lived with his daughter Julia Kidd Odell at Dill City, Washita, OK.
Letters from descendants say he is buried in the 3rd or 4th row on the east end of the cemetery.
He was the Father of 9 children. Two did not see adulthood.
*Ezekiel Calhoun Kidd, Lundy Lou Kidd Johnson- Nabors, Lewis Berry Kidd who married Minnie Flemming, Janet Malinda Kidd m. a Johnson, Jackson Aaron Kidd m. Mary White, Julia Eljavia Kidd m. Tip Odell, Mary Frances Kidd who m. John Henry Nabors, Lulu Florence Kidd m. Coultier and *Infant Kidd lived and died in 1870.

Mr. Kidd lived a long full life....
