Curtis Jr. was the son of Curtis Grubb, patriot ironmaster in Cornwall, Pennsylvania, and his second wife Elizabeth Carpenter. He inherited most of his father's extensive holdings but died as a teenager shortly thereafter. His will was invaluable in understanding the complicated relationships in the Curtis Grubb family, particularly that between his father and Hannah Bellarby Grubb, who probably raised him.

This is a cenotaph. His remains were re-interred at Curtis Grubb, Jr., Hebron Moravian Church Cemetery about 1928.
