Irene Secor, 92, Akron, died at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester. Funeral arrangements are pending at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.

Irene E. Secor, Dec. 8, 1914-Oct. 24, 2007, Irene E. Secor, 92, 213 N. Mishawaka St., Akron, died at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester. Born Dec. 8, 1914, in Miami County to Wesley and Bertha Dukes Bowen, she married Daniel Secor on June 28, 1936, in Rochester. He passed away Oct. 13, 1966. She had been a business manager at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester, retiring after 27 years there. She was a member of Akron United Methodist Church and the Amicus Club. Survivors include two daughters, Karen and husband Larry Fawcett, North Manchester, and Janice and husband William Brown, Zionsville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Irene was the youngest of seven children, two brothers and four sisters, all of whom preceded her in death. Her funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Karen Ottjes officiating. Burial will be at Akron Cemetery. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Akron United Methodist Church or The American Cancer Society.
