Rev. Joseph A. Moyers, was an ordained Free Will Baptist minister in the Stone Association, as shown in its Annual Minutes, Oct. 3, 1879, when meeting with the Laurel Creek church, Cumberland Co. TN:

"...On motion, and in pursuance of Section 9 of the Declaration of Rights,there were appointed as Presbyters, Elders T. J. Clouse, John Brewster, Joseph A. Moyers, G. L. Moyers and John Stowers for the next associational year. On motion, the ministers were appointed to attend the several churches as pastors..." [then it gives names of several churches in the group.] Evidently, Rev. Moyers was a leader and esteemed minister who was given responsibilities they thought he would faithfully carry out. Nothing at this time is know regarding the year he was ordained.
