Anchorage resident O.E. "Gene" Bohannon, 69, died May 5, 1995, at Elmendorf hospital.

A funeral will be held at noon Thursday at Anchorage Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Ashley officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.

Mr. Bohannon was born Feb. 13, 1926, in Cherryvale, Kan. He was a U.S. Army paratrooper during World War II.

In 1965, Mr. Bohannon came to Alaska with his wife and family. He worked on the North Slope as an independent journeyman electrician and had owned KWIK Service Refrigeration, Alaska Original Triple E, and most recently, Embroidery and Design in Palmer.

He attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Anchorage. He enjoyed inventing, camping and working.

His family said: "He was loved by his family and will be missed by many."

Mr. Bohannon is survived by his wife of 43 years, Peggy of Anchorage; daughter and son-in-law, Belynda and Carl Weideman of Wasilla; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Karma Bohannon of Palmer; five grandchildren; mother-in-law, Elva Travis of Anchorage; brothers, Jim of Kansas and Art of Texas; sisters, Lillith Carey of California, Velma Hindman of Kansas, Lucille Amos of Oklahoma, Bea Sheppard of Kansas, Bettye Valverta of Nebraska, and Irene Hymer of Kansas; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Arrangements were handled by Anchorage Funeral Home.
