Death of a Centarian
Died, at the residence of his son Francis Miller, in Chequest township on the 15th inst, at 1:20 o’clock, Daniel Miller, aged 103 years and 8 months.
Grand-pa Miller was born in Pa, on the 15th of July, 1785, and moved with his parent to Breckenridge co, Ky, when a boy, and from there to Perry Co. Ind., and from Ind. To Van Buren Co, where he was one of the earliest settlers, having came(sic) here before the land west of Van Buren Co., was purchased from the Indians; and it seemed like a romance to hear him tell of hunting deer and bears where now we only see splendid farms and sleek herds of or citizens, and “iron hoofs have so beaten down the war path that an eagle’s eye cannot discover an Indian track.” He was twice married a family of 5 boys and 5 girls, 6 of whom are still living. Two sons, John and Adam, and two daughters, Mrs. Sally Collins and Elizabeth Miller, are waiting to meet him “on the other shore.” Of those living, Abraham lives in Davis Co.; Mrs. Nancy Lanman and Mrs. Polly Roland, Francis in Van Huren Co., Mrs Lettie Sconce in Texas, and Daniel in Ill. He leaves 53 grand-children, 155 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grand children.

Based on this information, I attempted to put the family together. I found at least 8 of the 10 Children had memorials on Find a grave but only one was linked in. By way of confirmation I reviewed the database of Ancestry.com and found at least the ones that have Find a grave memorials widely confirmed. I also looked on GENI and found some on geni and very little conflicting information
In order of the Obit:
John Miller Sr. (1816-1873) ( https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/153378061/john-miller) I’ve added the Sr. for my purposes because he has a son by the same name.
Adam Miller (1824-1856) (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/105926298/adam-miller )
Sarah Sally Miller Collins (1818-1888) Confirmed in Ancestry but didn’t find Findagrave memorial.
Elizabeth Miller Hammack (1818-1884) ( https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/67255412/elizabeth-hammack )
Abram Abraham Miller (1825-1910) ( https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/88952385/abram-miller ) Not to be confused with Abraham Miller -a different person with a different memorial.
Nancy Lanman (1820-1889) (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/69958989/nancy-l-lanman )
Mary Polly Roland (1807-1888) ( https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/168026225/mary-roland )
Francis Miller ---not sure Dan of Illinois --- still working on it.
