Clyde Ernest Ruoti
March 4, 1920 – April 11, 1998
Our loving, devoted father, grandfather and friend, Clyde Ernest Ruoti, 78, passed away peacefully at home in Bountiful, April 11, 1998. He fought a courageous battle with lingering heart disease and lung cancer.
Born March 4, 1920 to Lillian M. and Clyde J. Ruoti in Salt Lake City. He was a graduate of South High School in 1937. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1939 then was honorably discharged as Chief Fire Controlman in 1945, surviving the bombing at Pearl Harbor in World War II.Clyde worked as a skilled auto mechanic and transmission specialist from 1945-1991 when he retired at age 71. He loved and enjoyed his family, gardening, fishing, hunting and sports. He was a member of the LDS Church in which he had a strong faith. He was also a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Assoc. for 18 years. He looked forward to his monthly meeting with his old service cronies at the Pearl Harbor Survivors Assoc. where he served as V.P. and Secretary/Treasure.
Clyde was always eager and willing to lend a helping hand to his family and friends.
Survived by four children, Dawn Malmstrom, Layton; Colleen Ruoti-Nelson, Syracuse; James Ruoti, W. Bountiful; Diane Ruoti, Ogden; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; also two sisters, Lucille Ruoti, Salt Lake City; Louise Garner, W. Jordan; and brother, Charles Ruoti, Salt Lake City.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years and youngest son, "Charlie".
