PORTAGE - Lynn E. Weiss Magnum, age 33, of Portage, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Mayo Medical Center, Rochester, Minn. Lynn was born to her parents, Kathryn and Douglas, June 10, 1969, in Superior, Wis.

She graduated from Westwood High School in Ishpeming, Mich., in 1987. While in her senior year, Lynn interned at a Marquette radio station where she met her future husband, Dave Weiss Magnum, who was hired as the stations new program director.

Lynn attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., until their marriage on Lynn's 20th birthday. The couple resided in Albuquerque, N.M., until they returned to Wisconsin to put their first radio station, WBOG-FM, on the air in Tomah in 1991.

In 1993, Lynn gave birth to her first son, Reid, followed by Ty in 1996. Lynn and Dave relocated to Portage in 1998 to expand their business into the Madison and Green Bay markets. Magnum Communications Group grew to include eleven radio licenses and one television license, all in Wisconsin.

Lynn was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996. It recurred as bone cancer in 1997, and in May of this year, spread to her brain. Truly an inspiration to many, comments were often made about the grace with which she conducted herself through this long and difficult period. Lynn instilled a deep Christian foundation in her two young boys.

She is survived by her husband, Dave; sons, Reid and Ty; father, Douglas Morton (Marge), Minneapolis; mother, Kathryn Demmon (Leonard), Minneapolis; brothers, Scott Morton (Cathleen), Jeff Morton (Julie), Gregg Morton (Tania) and Bradd Morton; grandmother, Luella Morton, Minneapolis; parents-in-law, David and Beverly Weiss, Wisconsin Dells; brothers-in-law, Dan Weiss (Alesia), Rod Weiss and Chad Weiss (Paula); and nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at 11 a.m. at GRACE BIBLE CHURCH, Portage, with the Rev. Steve Corbett and the Rev. Douglas Morton (Lynn's father) co-officiating. Burial will be at Silver Lake Cemetery, Portage.
